Researching family trees is both extremely rewarding and extremely frustrating:
rewarding when you find a run of inter-generational links and frustrating when
you find yourself at a deadend. I have had a good share of deadends, but I have also
had the luck to be contacted by, or to find, people who turn out to be relatives and
who can often provide some new ideas or new sources to help circumvent those dead ends. This
website is therefore intended both to encourage anyone who may share some ancestors to
get in touch so that we can share our knowledge and also, maybe, to provide some clues to
others who are researching the same families.
It is very easy simply to take on trust
information provided by others but I think it is important to have at least some documentary
evidence as well, though that can be a challenge when even some of the official records are
unreliable. So often deciding on generational linkages comes down to whether it is the best
fit with whatever circumstantial evidence is available. For most of what I have in my tree, I
now have at least some evidence and would be happy to share what I have. Good luck.
Names
Here, you can find a full list of the key names that appear in the Irwin family tree. There is more detail in the indovidual pages.
Go to NamesPlaces
Here you can find a list of places that were at some point associated with different people in the Irwin family tree. At present, the palce names link to the family with which they are associated. I hope to add some further detail in due course.
Go to PlacesUseful links
Here I have provided links to some resources that may prove useful including a link to my extended family tree which is available on Ancestry. Given that many of my family were dissenters, this includes links to non-conformist christening records and non-conformist burial grounds.
